Found Property

 If you have found something and turn it in to a police station or a police box, the officer will ask you about the following and will issue a claim check:
1.  Your name
2.  Your address
3.  Your phone number
4.  Time and date when you found it
5.  Where you found it

 If you found money, police officer will count it in front of you.
 Please cooperate with them in confirming the amount and denomination of money.
 They will ask your cooperation in confirming checks as well.
 

 Now, we are going to explain your rights to the found property.

 If you have found something, please turn it in to the police within a week.
 If you fail to do so, you will lose your right to claim reward.
   
Note:  If you have found something in a building or facility with a manager, such as in a taxi, department store, station, etc. you can obtain the right to claim reward or possession by turning it in to the manager within 24 hours.
 The percentage of the reward is from 5 to 20% of the value of the found property.
 If you found it in a facility, you must share the reward equally with the manager of the facility.
 If a finder or a manager waives his/her right to the reward, the other party has the right to claim only half of the reward.
   
 If the owner of the found property doesn't appear for 3 months, you will be entitled to claim its ownership.
 If you don't receive it within 2 months after obtaining your right of ownership, however, you will lose your right.
 The validity period of your right is written in the lower part of the claim check issued by the police.
 You are required to receive the found property, whose ownership you have obtained, at the police station.
 The name of the police station is written on the claim check.
 You can't receive it at police box. You should go to the finance section of the relevant police station with your claim check.
 The procedure is complete when you submit the claim check, receive the item and fill in the receipt form with your name, etc.
 The finance section of the police station is open from 8:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.,
 Monday to Friday except on national holidays and from December 29 to January 3.
 You will be able to complete the procedure smoothly if you call the person in charge of the finance section before you visit them.
